About Me

Life can still be sweet.

Hi, I’m Laura. I might not look like I fit the stereotype of chronic illness, but I’ve had health struggles for most of my life. But don’t fear, life can still be sweet :)

In 2014, I made a huge life change by combining a healing diet/lifestyle (the Autoimmune Protocol of Paleo, or AIP) with holistic & conventional medicine measures to manage and even reverse my conditions. While it hasn’t always been easy, I’ve learned that a healing diet, filled with real food, doesn’t need to be boring or feel depriving. I want to empower others to take action in their own lives, through the foods they eat & the lifestyle choices they make, to lead to vibrant, healthy, more fulfilling lives.

My background is in teaching, pastry, photography, graphic design & styling. In 2009, while I was in culinary school, I started this site to merge my love of dessert with photography & design, but over time, my focus has changed... In 2012, I developed a gluten intolerance & most of my focus switched to gluten free recipes. More changes came in 2014 when I switched my focus to not just sweet recipes, but also savory ones with the caviat that they needed to fit in to the Autoimmune Protocol of Paleo (AIP) guidelines. AIP isn’t meant to last forever, so from time to time, I may include recipes that feature reintroduction ingredients.

I try to post several times a month on this site (subscribe here so you never miss a post), but if you want to see more of my day-to-day life, I am very active on Instagram. And I love to share AIP recipes and other beautiful food (Note: not all of it AIP) over on Pinterest.

This blog is a labor of love.  I’m the one who conceptualizes & writes the recipes, makes & styles the food, and photographs everything. All the photos are mine, unless otherwise stated. Please contact me  before using any images or text from this site--it’s just the nice & polite thing to do :)
